SOCIAL CARE CAMPAIGNS
We are a non party political organisation. The main thrust of our Campaign in the run up to the General and Local Elections is to be on the Personalisation of Care.
We have informed all our members of what the proposals are and also allied ourselves with the Age Concern (Age UK) Camapaign. (Please go to the links page and click on Age Concern for further details).
We are concerned about the possible doing away with Attendance Allowance and the implications there might be for Disability Living Allowance. There are also concerns about the affordability of care and the possible moving of goal posts in order to qualify for care especially where local authorities are already looking to reduce their budgets. There is also the question whether people will be well enough infromed or able to understand the options open to them.
We have written to the leaders of the four main political parties outlining our concerns. We have also written to the Secretary of State on this issue.
We have invited representatives from the local political parties to speak on this question at our Branch Meeting on the 20th April 2010.
We will also highlight our concerns at every opportunity and distribute literature on the debate.
